I Found the Real Me Again” – Trisha’s 8st 5lbs Journey to Long-Term Change

Health, Confidence and Rediscovering Herself

Trisha began her journey in April 2025 with a clear purpose: to improve her health and rediscover the real version of herself that felt hidden beneath the weight.

Although she had always remained active, an ongoing back issue which had required surgery in the past, was not helped by carrying excess weight. She knew something had to change.

Returning to What Worked

Having successfully followed the plan around 15 years ago, Trisha returned knowing the structure and break from food were exactly what she needed.

While she had tried other diet plans with short-term success, she recognised she had never fully addressed her relationship with food or the habit of using it as a crutch during challenging times.

This time, her promise to herself was different: not just to lose the weight, but to work with her Mentor to develop the mindset needed to keep it off long-term.

The First Few Weeks

The first couple of days required adjustment as her body entered ketosis. Reducing sugar and carbs before starting helped.

Soon, hunger subsided and she felt relief at not having to think constantly about conventional food. The quick consistent weight loss and increased energy reinforced her commitment.

Drinking two litres of water daily became a lasting habit that she continues today.

Support, Accountability and Mindset Shifts

Weekly weigh checks, online group sessions and the WhatsApp support group became essential tools in Trisha’s journey.

Her mentor Tracy, with over 20 years of experience, provided practical advice, encouragement and one-to-one support when needed.

Through CBT and mindfulness sessions, Trisha learned to pause and ask herself whether she was physically hungry or responding to emotion. That awareness has been transformational.

Favourite Products and Finding Balance

Trisha’s go-to products include the porridge pot, jerk noodle pot, spaghetti bolognese, chocolate bars and crisps.

Knowing she could still enjoy chocolate or crisps on plan helped her feel balanced rather than deprived. She keeps these options in mind for ‘Living Lighter’ long term to help manage any of life’s future challenges’.

Life After 8st 5lbs

Since losing 8st 5lbs and dropping four dress sizes, Trisha feels she has found herself again.

She has taken up crochet, willow weaving and painting, and has recently joined a new netball team. She walks her two dogs regularly, gardens more and enjoys being outdoors.

A Colourful New Wardrobe and a New Outlook

Shopping is now enjoyable rather than stressful. Clothes she tries on are often too big, requiring smaller sizes. Her wardrobe now features brighter colours rather than the darker tones she once hid behind.

She feels super confident, attending a friend’s wedding wearing an outfit that she would never have considered before – accepting loads of compliments and happily posing for photos.

Sometimes she still can’t believe her reflection is really her.

Lessons for Life

Staying accountable remains key. Trisha continues to attend group sessions which helps keep all aspects of ‘Living Lighter’ at the forefront of her mind.

She plans ahead for social events, builds in lean days where needed and consistently asks herself whether she is truly hungry.

Her advice to anyone thinking of starting?

Commit fully. If you fall off plan don’t panic, ask the group and your mentor for help, and get back on it as soon as you can

Focus on the next half stone rather than the total ahead. Plan for social occasions, lean on your support network and keep your eyes on the ‘new’ you at the end. You can do it.
