In January 2021, I decided I needed to make a change to my health and lifestyle and no more yo-yo dieting. Along with my fear of catching Covid-19 and not recovering due to my high BMI of 39 at the time, my twin children Olivia and Louie were all the motivation I needed to lose the weight I had gained over the years. I wanted them to be proud of their mum but more importantly I wanted to make sure I would be there for them in the future, and at every milestone, any parent would want to witness.
I’d done the LighterLife Programme in the past so, I knew it would work 100% if I stayed focused, stuck to the TotalFast plan, and set myself goals. I had the perfect first goal which was to lose a considerable amount of weight for a special cousin’s wedding in July 2021. I thought about wearing the perfect dress for the occasion and how happy that would make me feel. With almost 6 months until the wedding, I felt so many different emotions at the start of my journey, I was self-conscious and nervous but overall, I was excited about the future lighter me!
Judy, my LighterLife Mentor, has been the best support for me through my weight-loss journey. Looking back to my first weigh-in and the photos I sent Judy, I remember saying “pictures of me I never want to see again”. I still can’t quite believe that was me, I look so different compared to now, although I will never forget how it made me feel. I use these thoughts to remind myself how far I have come with LighterLife and to help me focus on the goals I set myself going forward.
Although I’ve not quite reached my target weight, I’m so pleased with the progress I’m making, and knowing my children are proud of me is an amazing feeling. The TotalFast plan has been so easy to follow, which has enabled me to spend more time taking care of myself and my wellbeing. The weekly Mindfulness sessions have also played a key part in helping me to understand my relationships with food and triggers that have in the past caused me to overeat. I have learned some valuable tools and skills to make lasting changes to my health and my well-being.
