Staying hydrated and Weight-loss: Wellness tips to feel better this Summer

Now that Summer is finally here, and the weather is warm and dry, it’s even more important to ensure you drink enough water whilst on TotalFast. LighterLife’s head of nutrition and research, Dr Kelly Johnston, explains that self-care and keeping well should be top of your priority list and that’s where staying hydrated comes into play.

How much water should I drink?

The adage of 6-8 glasses of water per day is what we often here, but of course that can often be a lot more when on TotalFast and consuming Foodpacks only. But the point remains that one of the simplest but most effective ways to take care of yourself is ensuring that you are properly hydrated.

How water helps your body.

Your body depends on water to survive. Every cell, tissue and organ in your body needs water to work properly. For example, your body uses water to maintain its temperature, remove waste and lubricate your joints. It can also help you focus, prevent that mid-morning or mid-afternoon ‘brain-fog’ that can sometimes appear a few hours between meals and staying properly hydrated has been shown to reduce headaches.

If staying hydrated is difficult for you, here are some tips that can help:

  • Keep a bottle of water with you during the day – to reduce the cost of bottled water, try using one of our shakers and fill it up with tap water.
  • If you don’t like the taste of plain water, try adding one of our drink mixes for some added flavour.
  • When you’re feeling hungry, drink water. Thirst can sometimes be confused with hunger.
