Change your thinking
The LighterLife Programme uses a highly
effective combination of techniques to help you understand the
reasons behind your unhealthy eating habits.
These habits are often an attempt to deal with
underlying feelings such as anger or sadness. Addressing these
feelings directly allows you to develop healthier ways of dealing
with them, so helping you manage your weight.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
CBT is a practical, effective and well
recognised way of helping you deal more realistically with many of
life’s problems. It’s used widely within the
NHS.
We’re all prone to irrational or ‘crooked
thinking’ at times, such as ‘I just can’t do it’. This can lead to
an exaggerated emotional response, which can lead to unhelpful
behaviour.
The CBT techniques you learn in your groups
can help you challenge your irrational thoughts and so reduce the
likelihood of over-reacting i.e. overeating.
CBT techniques can help you develop more
realistic beliefs about yourself and others.
Transactional analysis (TA)
Transactional Analysis outlines:
- How we’ve developed.
- The different ways we treat ourselves.
- How we relate and communicate with
others.
It offers suggestions and techniques which can
enable you to make positive changes.
These ideas are helpful to explain why and
when you may overeat. They can help give you new ways forward.
Think that these techniques can help you lose
weight?
Over 100,000 people have used these to achieve their
goals. Could you?
