How does LighterLife work?
LighterLife offers weight-management
programmes for patients with a BMI ≥ 25kg/m2, focusing
on obesity treatment and prevention.
The multi-component approach includes healthy eating, increased
physical activityand behavioural change.
The emphasis is on identifying personal
psychological drivers of obesity and overweight. This enables
patients to achieve a healthier and manageable BMI by making
sustainable changes to the way they eat, think and live.
Weight loss
Weight loss is initiated via either:
- LighterLife
Lite – a
low-calorie diet (LCD) for overweight patients (BMI
25-29.9kg/m2) OR
-
LighterLife Total – a very-low-calorie diet
(VLCD) for obese patients (BMI ≥30kg/m2).
In conjunction, LighterLife’s weight-management counsellors work with patients in small,
single-sex, weekly groups to facilitate the behavioural modification that is vital for sustainable
weight management.
Weight management
Following weight loss, a weight-management programme progresses patients to a
balanced and varied diet, consistent with current advice on healthy
eating.
It provides continued support to help patients
implement and sustain further healthy lifestyle changes, thus
reducing the risk of associated comorbidities.
Expert support
LighterLife’s medical
director oversees all medical aspects of our programmes.
LighterLife’s programmes also benefit from clinical/nutritional
