Gout

Gout sufferers generally have higher levels of uric acid in their blood, which can cause sodium urate crystals to be deposited in the joints - an extremely painful condition.

Losing weight on any diet can raise uric acid levels, so if you are susceptible to gout you could be at risk of an attack, particularly during the first few days.

If you suffer with gout please be aware weight loss can induce an attack and prophylactic treatment with Allopurinol is advised. Please discuss this with your GP.
