There are many reasons why gallstones form

 

Research shows a higher prevalence in women, especially if they have a BMI of 30 or above. The risk increases with rapid weight loss, whatever your BMI and whatever weight-loss method you choose.

Studies indicate that as long as the VLCD contains more than 7g of fat there is no greater risk of gallstones than when losing weight by other methods. The LighterLife VLCD contains a minimum of 14g of fat per day.
